LOUISIANA, Mo. -- An annual fundraiser to benefit the Buffalo Township United Fund will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Stark Bro's garden center along Highway NN in Louisiana.
Stark Bro's Nurseries and Orchards hosts the event each year to raise money for the BTUF, a not-for-profit corporation that collects and distributes donations to more than a dozen charitable organizations in the Buffalo Township community in Pike County.
"Every year this event gets bigger, and more people come out to buy a great BBQ lunch and support the BTUF," said Tabitha Rardon, Stark Bro's customer support manager and leader of the Employee Relations Committee, which organizes the event.
"We're hoping for good weather and an equally good turnout," she said.
The fundraiser will consist of a barbecue lunch that will be served until 2 p.m. "or until sold out," Rardon said.
The meal costs $9 and includes a pulled-pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, an apple and a drink. Additional sandwiches will be available for $1 if bought with a meal or $5 if bought separately.
Lunches can be reserved by sending an email to info@StarkBros.com, by calling 573-754-8878 or by sending a fax to 573-754-3701. All pre-rders must be placed by 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Stark Bro's is one of Louisiana's largest employers and biggest community supporters. The company, founded in 1816, is the world's oldest fruit tree nursery. It offers more than 150 varieties of fruit, nut and shade trees and other garden plants. The company mails 2 million catalogs each year to home gardeners and ships more than 1 million trees and plants to consumers and commercial orchardists nationwide.
