SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Quincy High School cross country runner Lydia Kurfman finished third in the Springfield Lanphier Invitational Saturday with a time of 18:39.
Teammate Kendall Marks finished 23rd with a time of 20:34, and Valerie Howerton was 32nd with a time of 20:56. The Blue Devils finished in seventh place out of 13 teams with 146 points. Mahomet Seymour won the race with 38 points, while Urbana's Libby Cultra finished first with a time of 18:19.
The QHS boys team finished in 12th place out of 14 teams with 294 points. Mundelein won the team title with 29 points and also had the individual winner in Michael Parduhn with a time of 15:37. Noah Fleer had the Blue Devils' best time of 16:48, good enough for 27th place.
