Panthers rout Rockets behind strong running game

CAMP POINT, Ill. -- Cole Williams ran for 161 yards and scored a touchdown as the Central football team routed Jacksonville Routt 50-7 Friday in the Western Illinois Valley Conference North Division opener.

The Panthers (2-1) scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters with four different players scoring in the first half.

Chase Norfolk caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Erik Jones in the first quarter, and Wilson Stotts followed it with a 21-yard scoring run. In the second quarter, Williams had a 4-yard touchdown run and Noah Strohkirch had a 3-yard run.

Norfolk, Stotts and Strohkirch each scored in the second half as the Panthers ran the ball 57 times for 485 yards. Stotts also had a pair of interceptions as the Panthers forced three turnovers.

Jacksonville Routt finished with just 123 yards of total offense.
