Willings win doubles championship at Hannibal

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Zach Willing and Todd Willing defeated Chris Leonard and Bob Mitchell 11-10, with a 7-4 score in the tiebreaker, to win the men's open doubles championship this weekend at the Hannibal Open Tennis Tournament at Huckleberry Park.

The Willings reached the championship by beating Rusty Crane and Al Shadensack 10-2 in the semifinals. Leonard and Mitchell won the other semifinal by beating Skip Wilson and Mike O'Neal 10-0.

Leonard won the men's open singles championship with an 8-3 victory over Jay Johnson. Zach Willing won the consolation championship with a 10-0 victory over Brad Curl.

In the men's 3.5 singles division, John Johnston beat Jason Nichols 11-10 (7-5) in the championship match. Seth McBride defeated Mark Wavering 11-9 to win the consolation bracket.

Kendra Maples won the women's 3.5 singles championship with a 10-2 victory over Calah Brown.

Austin Brown beat Luke Boyd 10-6 to win the boys 18-and-under singles division.

Brown and her father, Bob Mitchell, defeated Jason Nichols and his daughter Ashlyn 10-5 to take first place in the mixed doubles division.
