PITTSFIELD, Ill. -- Vehicles owned by the Illinois State Police and the Pike County Sheriff's Department were damaged when they were sideswiped by a tractor-trailer rig.

According to a State Police crash report the incident occurred at 3 p.m. Saturday near mile marker 40 along Interstate 72.

A state trooper had stopped a pickup truck driver for a traffic violation and was parked on the right side of the road in the eastbound lane. A sheriff's deputy was assisting with the traffic stop and parked behind the State Police vehicle. Both law enforcement vehicles had their emergency lights activated.

The state police report indicates that Olin L. Rabe, 76, Hannibal, Mo., was driving east in a 2012 Freightliner truck pulling a trailer and did not change lanes. The trailer sideswiped the driver's side of both police vehicles.

The trooper was still in the patrol car when it was struck. The deputy was outside the Pike County squad vehicle.

Nobody was injured.

Rabe was ticketed for reportedly failing to yield to emergency vehicles and improper lane usage.

The Illinois State Police report did not list the names of the law enforcement officials.
