BARRY, Ill. -- The Western baseball team twice erased deficits and made a two-run rally in the bottom of the sixth last in a 5-4 victory over Liberty on Thursday.
Liberty struck first in the top of the first inning on a fielding error by Western. The Eagles scored in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch to take a 2-0 lead, but it was short-lived as Western answered with two of their own in the bottom half. In the top of the fifth, a Liberty fielder's choice RBI and an RBI single from Avery Spilker got the lead back for the Eagles.
However, RBI singles from Austin Ward and Eli Berg in the bottom of the sixth gave the Wildcats the lead.
Connor O'Neil had two hits for Liberty.
