Strong start propels Mustangs to lopsided victory

BOWEN, Ill. -- The Unity softball team scored 10 runs in the first two innings of a 17-1, five-inning West Central Conference South Division victory over Southeastern Thursday.

Jordan Hildebrand's two-run triple in the second inning put the Lady Mustangs ahead 7-0. Addison Miller had two of Unity's nine hits, both singles, and Katlyn Corrigan hit a two-run double.

Hildebrand pitched the first four innings before she was relieved by Haley Miller in the fifth. The two pitchers combined to strike eight batters and scatter three hits.

Abby Owen led off the bottom of the fourth for the Lady Suns with a triple and scored on a passed ball.

Unity is now 10-2 overall and 4-0 in the WCC South.
