BEARDSTOWN, Ill. -- Back-to-back singles from Brady Nierman and Tommy Ray gave the Quincy Notre Dame baseball team a 2-1 lead and propelled the Raiders to a 5-1 victory over Beardstown on Thursday.

The Tigers led 1-0 heading into the third inning when Ben Whittaker led off with a walk for QND and Dylan Foley followed with a single. A wild pitch moved both runners into scoring position before Nierman singled to center to score Whittaker and Ray plated Foley with a ground ball.

Foley and Nierman scored in the seventh on a passed ball and a groundout to preserve the victory.

Ray earned the victory, allowing one hit and one run over five innings. He struck out six and walked three.
