ABINGDON, Ill. -- A three-run inning was enough to push the Abingdon-Avon baseball team to a 4-2 victory over Illini West on Thursday.

Chargers starter Jacob Dietrich was tagged for three runs in the fourth inning. The first three hitters reached for the Commandos on two singles and an error, plating one run. After two strikeouts and a walk, Abingdon's Ben Stipp stroked a two-run single.

The Chargers put together a two-run rally in the sixth as Kennedy Gooding drove in Jacob Burt with a one-out single. One out later, Carter Boyer plated Jackson Porter with a double.

Illini West was able to get only one runner on base in the seventh.

Dietroich allowed one earned run, struck out three and walked one. Porter and Michael Lord had two hits apiece for the Chargers.
