WELLSVILLE, Mo. -- Pitching was at a premium as the Mark Twain baseball team stumbled in a 23-13 Eastern Missouri Conference loss to Wellsville on Thursday.

The teams combined for 15 extra-base hits, and each team scored six or more runs in an inning at least once.

A six-run outburst by Mark Twain in the fourth inning cut the deficit to 13-11. Preston Eckler and Loren Carlisle each had a two-run double in the frame. A steal of home in the top of the fifth by Mark Twain trimmed the deficit to one, but Wellsville responded with a seven-run inning.

Bradyn Hooley led Mark Twain with a three-run home run.
