QUINCY -- A Liberty man arrested Tuesday in connection with a home invasion in Liberty made his first appearance Wednesday in Adams County Circuit Court.
John A. Martineau, 52, of 1975 Ill. 104, was formally charged with home invasion with a dangerous weapon and home invasion with a firearm. Both are Class X felonies, and if convicted, he would face between six and 30 years in prison on each charge.
Martineau was arrested at 5:46 p.m. Tuesday after Adams County sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance about 4:30 p.m. at an address in Liberty. After investigation at the scene, Martineau was taken into custody.
Judge Jerry Hooker set Martineau's bond at $250,000 during Wednesday's hearing. Martineau is being represented by Public Defender Babs Brennan.
