MACOMB, Ill. -- A timely hit from Will Fox allowed the West Hancock baseball team to snare a 9-8 victory over Macomb on Thursday at Phil Bradley Field.
The Titans trailed 8-6 heading into the top of the seventh, but a one-out walk by David Celenia, a single by Chase Hartweg and a two-out walk by Nathan Cameron loaded the bases.
Fox followed with a double to right field that cleared the bases and give West Hancock the lead.
Riley Langford worked out of trouble in the bottom of the seventh to earn the save. A leadoff walk to Brendan Mueller and a sacrifice bunt gave the Bombers the tying run in scoring position, and a walk to Ben Higgins put two runners on. Jacob Burg followed with a single to left-center field, but left fielder Kolton Johnson threw out Mueller at home to preserve the lead.
Langford got Bickers to pop out to the shortstop to end the game.
Caleb Adams earned the victory after grinding through six innings in which he struck out seven and walked two.
Fox finished 2 for 3 with two walks and three RBIs, while Hartweg, Cameron and Johnson each had two hits.
