ASTORIA, Ill. -- Scoring eight runs in the first three innings combined gave the Griggsville-Perry softball team a needed cushion in an 11-8 victory over South Fulton on Thursday.

Jordan Brite went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, while Brianna Brown was 3 for 5 with four RBIs.

They scored the two runs in the top of the seventh that helped the Tornadoes hold on. South Fulton scored seven runs in the fifth inning to pull within 9-8 before Brown delivered an RBI single in the seventh and later scored on a bases loaded walk.

Brite earned the victory, striking out six with one walk. None of the eight runs she allowed were earned.
