City of Carthage to hold Arbor Day celebration

CARTHAGE, Il. -- The City of Carthage will celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, April 28, near the intersection of E. Main and Head streets. Kari Houle, Extension Educator Horticulture with University of Illinois, will demonstrate and discuss planting of trees.

The planting is part of the annual requirements for maintaining Tree City USA status. Carthage was officially recognized as a Tree City USA in February. Each year the city will plant a tree in honor of Arbor Day.
