KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- Shelby Stine's goal in the 35th minute lifted the Hannibal girls soccer team to a 1-0 victory in Monday's North Central Missouri Conference matchup against Kirksville.

Samantha Zielinski recorded her eighth shutout of the year in goal for the Pirates. The Pirates had 24 shots on goal in the game while Kirksville only had two shots on goal. Hannibal (10-4, 6-1 NCMC) coach Eric Hill said his defense played well, but the offense could have been better.

"We kept the ball away from them, and we moved the ball really well on offense, but our shots didn't test their goalie enough," Hill said. "At the end of the day, it is still a good conference win against a team that is much improved from the last time we played."
