Liberty boys, girls win titles at Central Invitational

CAMP POINT, Ill. ญญ-- The Liberty boys and girls track teams captured team titles Friday at the Central Invitational.

The Liberty girls edged Central 170-105. West Hancock was fourth of 11 teams with 61 points, Quincy High School took fifth, and Unity was sixth.

Lauren Glick of Central was the top girls performer, winning the 100-meter and 300-meter runs, as well as taking first in the long jump and triple jump. Zakila Wiskirchen won the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash for Central. Glick and Wiskirchen were joined by Leah Turner and Lauren Gille on the winning 4x100 meter relay team.

Riley Welch of West Hancock claimed the 400-meter run, and teammate Zarra Humphry won the 800 run.

Liberty's Katelyn Robbins dominated the 1,600-meter run, winning in a time of 5:45.76, more than one minute ahead of the second-place finisher. Robbins also claimed the 3,200 in 11:57.99.

West Hancock's Madisyn Andrews, Myah Gray, Welch and Humphry won the 4x400 relay, and the Titans' 4x800 relay team of Gray, Welch, Allison Morgan and Humphry was also victorious.

Alyssa Lubbert of Quincy High School claimed the discus, and Allison Coonrod of Liberty won the high jump.

Liberty dominated the boys event and racked up 135.5 points, almost 40 more points than West Central. West Hancock was third and Central fifth.

Cory Booher led Liberty's winning effort by taking first in the 1,600-meter run, and he also finished second in the 3,200.

Cory Miller of Unity won the 3,200, West Hancock's Nick Nagel won the 110 hurdles and Levi Hecox of Central took the 300 hurdle race.

Liberty's Ethan Wolf, Seth Rochelle, Koby Craft and Kolton Grawe took the 4x100 relay, and the same team won the 4x200 relay. Rochelle also won the triple jump.

Andy Bird of West Hancock took the shot put and discus, and James Logsdon of Payson-Seymour won the long jump.
