QUINCY -- The John Wood Community College softball team struck for nine runs and Natalie Rothmeyer held Lincoln College to just three hits for a 9-1 victory in the first game of Sunday's MidWest Athletic Conference doubleheader.
The script was flipped in the second game as John Wood collected just two hits and fell 9-0.
The Blazers (2-10) scored two runs in each of the first two innings to jump to an early lead, then scored four more in the fourth to pull away. Millie Moyer and Rothmeyer each drove in three runs.
Lincoln got its only run in the third.
The Lynx reached Trail Blazers starter Bailey Smith quickly in the second game, scoring a run in the first inning before exploding for six more in the second and two more in the fifth. The Trail Blazers also committed four errors in the game.
