Vasquez, Smith combine to allow seven hits in sweep

CANTON, Mo. -- Miguel Vasquez and Daniel Smith each threw complete game victories to lead the Culver-Stockton College baseball team to a Heart of American Athletic Conference sweep of Mount Mercy Saturday.

Vasquez gave up just two hits in seven innings in the first game, a 2-0 win victory. Brandon Cotter and Alex Satunas each had two hits and scored a run for the Wildcats (13-9, 3-3 Heart).

In the second game, Smith allowed five hits and fanned four in a 4-3 win. Jhonathan Mendoza had two hits and an RBI to lead C-SC, and Kevin Cali also had two hits for the Wildcats.

Mount Mercy is 8-11 overall and 1-3 in the Heart. The two teams play again Sunday in Canton.
