CARTHAGE, Ill. -- Josh Kermoade led the Canton baseball team with three steals and two hits in a 14-5 victory over Beardstown, then scored on Lance Logsdon's walk-off double in the bottom of the eighth to defeat Illini West 3-2 on Saturday.
Cooper Hudnot's bases-loaded walk highlighted a four-run first inning against Beardstown, and then Canton scored seven runs in the second. Canton added two more runs in the third inning and one more in the fifth. Canton also had seven stolen bases.
The game against Illini West was scoreless until the top of the sixth Jackson Porter singled, moved up on a wild pitch, stole third and then stole home to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. The Chargers added a run in the seventh as Carter Boyer doubled and scored on Hunter Wilde's single.
Canton's Brody Smith drove home one run in the seventh with a groundout, and Trey Metz had an RBI single with two outs to tie the game at 2. Kermoade walked to start the eighth inning and scored on Logsdon's hit.
