Kitchell's four hits help JWCC win first game

LINCOLN, Ill. -- Emily Kitchell had four hits to lead the John Wood Community College softball team to its first victory of the season, a 12-7 victory over Lincoln College in the first game of a MidWest Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The Trail Blazers (1-9, 1-1 MWAC) were down 4-3 in the second game before allowing five runs in the fifth inning and losing 9-3 in the second game.

JWCC was down 6-3 entering the fifth inning of the opener when it scored four runs. The Blazers added five more runs in the seventh inning.

John Wood was held scoreless through the first four innings before scoring three runs in the fifth inning, but Lincoln answered right back with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the victory.
