HLGU loses doubleheader, drops to 2-22

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The Hannibal-LaGrange University baseball team dropped both games of an American Midwest Conference doubleheader to visiting Lyon College by scores of 5-4 and 15-5 on Saturday.

Seth Brown had a two-run single for the Trojans (2-22, 0-14 AMC) in the first game, and HLGU trailed 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh before Brown doubled deep to left center to score a run, and Edward Corniel had a run-scoring single later in the inning. The Trojans were unable to push the tying run across the plate and stranded eight runners in the game.

Hannibal-LaGrange trailed 7-6 in the sixth inning of the second game before the Scots (19-9, 9-2 AMC) exploded for seven runs. Matt Jones had three hits and drove in two runs for HLGU. Tim Gurnow added three hits for the Trojans.
