QUINCY -- The Quincy High School girls soccer team scored three second-half goals to break a halftime tie in its season-opening 4-1 victory over Hannibal at Flinn Stadium on Friday.

Shelby Stine opened the scoring off an assist from Kaylee Falconer to put the Pirates (0-1) ahead in the 12th minute, but the Blue Devils (1-0) answered quickly when Sierra Woodard, assisted by Schey Mulherin, hit a shot that deflected off a defender and evened the score in the 13th minute.

That score remained until the 52nd minute when Grace Hilbing scored an unassisted goal to put QHS ahead. That lead was doubled in the 59th minute when Mulherin scored off an assist from Keaghan Rodemeich. Woodard put a bookend on the victory with a goal in the 76th minute, assisted by Abbey Reis.

The Blue Devils outshot the Pirates 19-8, and Michaela Cowman made seven saves in net for QHS.
