QHS opens season with victory in Troy

TROY, Ill. -- The Quincy High School boys tennis team opened its season with an 8-1 victory over Troy Triad on Friday.

Zach Willing lost at No. 1 singles to Nick Parsons 6-1, 6-2, but it was the only pairing that QHS (1-0) would drop.

Ben Oakley won 6-0, 6-1, and Josh Daly won 6-2, 6-0. Blake Hayden was tested in a 7-5, 7-5 victory, and Andrew Vonderheide and Greyson Arns won in three games. The doubles teams of Hayden-Arns, Oakley-Vonderheide and Daly-Willing all won.
