HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Quincy University men's volleyball team snapped a 10-match losing streak in four sets Thursday night, defeating Lincoln Memorial 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20.
The Hawks (4-14) led most of the first set after jumping out to an early 6-3 lead. That lead grew to 11-5 and hovered around two or three points until the Railsplitters (8-15) scored three straight points to trim QU's lead to 21-20. The Hawks scored three of the next four points and closed out the first set on Anthony Winter's kill.
The second set followed the same script as the Hawks jumped out to a 10-7 lead and never relinquished the advantage as they hit .250 while holding the Railsplitters to just a .087 hitting percentage.
After Lincoln Memorial came back to win the third set, the Hawks once again hit .250 in the fourth set while holding the Railsplitters to a .045 hitting percentage to close out the match.
David Siebum led the Hawks with 16 kills, while Winter finished with 10. Thane Fanfulik had 32 assists and eight digs. Blake Sprecher and Jarrod Kelso finished with three blocks each.
